2023: A Glimpse at our future projects

A new residency

in 2022, ChoreoJoey was the recipient of the Emerging Artist Program at Culture Lab LIC, allowing full use of mentorship, resources, and rehearsal & performance space to priemere the ballet PLIGHT.

In 2023 ChoreoJoey is looking to revitalize a school facility in NYC, converting the space into an incubator for dance rehearsals, performances, and live events. after the closures of Spaceworks NYC we would like to embrace their mission of "providing low-cost rehearsal space" and adding performance spaces in vacant or underutilized schools and community centers.

Opening a new facility will also provide The Choreojoey Project a permanent home to create, allowing our virtual class "a Jazzy Fit" along with other Jazz and technique classes to be offered
in-person on a weekly schedule to our community, furthering our mission of jazz dance for preservation.

A New Production

Did you know it takes a production budget of $20,000 to create and produce a new ChoreoJoey show? since 2014, The ChoreoJoey project has presented new work for you, our friends, our family, and our audiences new and old. We often rely on donors from our indiegogo or kickstarter campaigns, and even host free improvised dance concerts and events during the midwinter months while preparing the annual production. our annual productions are presented in the summer anywhere between June-September, bring a cast of up to 10 talented artists with a multimedia and technical crew of 3 to do a weeklong run of shows. These productions are often independently funded, crafted and created before being presented as excerpts in the fall in New York's Dance Festival circuit.

Donating today  would help us produce our next proposed production "Forgive Me, Harlem" (working title), a devised choreopoem where the lead takes the audience on an poetic tour through historical Harlem as  the cast will recreates moment of the artist's past and development finally acknowledging the grief, pain, and conflict faced through the past as to why the lead is trying to deflect the pains of nostalgia. with original choreography and original music from Stephen Hill.
